Ruth Larkin

SPORTS THERAPIST

Having trained in dance to a professional level in my teens, I went on to enjoy a 10-year career within the entertainment industry, most recently working at United Agents looking after some of the UK’s best known film and TV talent.

I found Sports Massage in 2006 thanks to an inspirational treatment and at that point decided to put my anatomical knowledge to better use and trained at the North London School of Sports Massage graduating with Credit in a Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy. This was a great foundation to my ongoing training but as much as I love manual therapy, it’s nothing without exercise, so training in Pilates was a natural step as something I could also offer for complete rehabilitation.

Understanding the pressures of professional dance training, growing up an experienced horse-rider as well as spending long hours in an office environment are useful tools in understanding and treating bodies from all walks of life. I am as happy dealing with anything from day-to-day niggles, to sports injuries or general stress, through to my work with The English National Ballet.

My philosophy is to take an holistic, multidisciplinary approach, treating the body and mind as a whole to find the root causes of problems and preventing their re-occurrence through sensible nutrition, hands-on treatment and, of course, exercise.
